Tea To-Go: The Great White from Tastea (SJ)

Who: The Great White
What: Peach-flavored white tea served over ice
Where: Tastea in San Jose
How: 0% Sugar / 50% Ice

Sometimes I just want a plain iced tea to lighten the sweltering summer heat. I remembered other customers recommended The Great White when I last visited Tastea. This peach-flavored white tea sounded promising, but it wasn’t as interesting as I hoped. The tea tasted mostly like watered-down peach syrup without much tea flavor. There is the faintest bitter aftertaste though, which might be the supposed “tea” component in this drink.

Perhaps white tea doesn’t do well flavored. White tea is pretty delicate and nuanced. Sometimes it resembles a light green tea. Other times, the floral and buttery flavors are more pronounced. Or the white tea needs to be brewed double strength to stand a fighting chance against peach and ice.

Conclusion: Wish it were tastea-r. Tea no go!
